I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately. AI tools, software, browsers, and social platforms — why does so much of it feel unreliable or poorly made? Why does it often seem like when you need something done properly, you end up having to do it yourself?
It’s not just complaining for the sake of it. There’s a clear pattern. Many products and platforms start out decent, sometimes even excellent, and then gradually get worse. More advertisements. More tracking. More unnecessary features. More complexity that slows everything down and creates frustration.
We’ve become far too accepting of tools and systems that are only “good enough.” Meanwhile, trying to use them for serious, productive work often feels like an unnecessary battle.
Social media is one of the clearest examples. It’s built for endless scrolling and quick reactions, not for electricians sharing real knowledge or solving actual problems on the job.
That’s why I regularly point people toward better alternatives:
necchat.com
fasttraxsystem.com/portal
These are focused spaces where electricians can connect and get real work done without the noise, distractions, and nonsense found on the big platforms.
I’m not suggesting we reject all technology. I still use AI as a helpful tool when it makes sense. But I refuse to pretend that the default options are acceptable when they clearly aren’t. When it comes to learning, working, or making the most of your time, it’s often worth seeking out (or helping build) better versions.
This trade already demands enough from us. Our tools shouldn’t add to that burden.
If you’re tired of fighting with broken or overly complicated systems, come find me on the better platforms first. That’s where the useful conversations are happening.
Stay sharp out there.
